IVF Process

Steps In IVF Process

In Vitro Fertilization can be described as an assisted reproductive technology. The process is done by extracting eggs, collecting a sperm sample, freeze eggs and sperm, and then combining the egg and the sperm together manually in a laboratory dish. This is only done after every other treatment you have tried has failed.

Let’s take a look at the step by step ivf process

  • IVF ProcessOvulation Induction

Your fertility doctor would be taking note of your ovaries and the timing of when you would release your egg before and during the time of In Vitro Fertilization. The specialist would be sure that your ovaries are making eggs and your hormones level is ok.

  • Egg Retrieval

During the process, for reducing discomfort pain medication is prescribed. After that, a tiny needle would be passed through the vagina wall. The fluid is being removed from follicles when you are under a suction

The egg would be isolated from the fluid immediately after inclination of the follicle. The egg would be placed in a laboratory dish which contains nutrient, and then it would be transferred inside the incubator

  • Fertilization

This is the next step to be taken which is fertilizing the egg. From your donor or your husband, a sperm sample would be collected, and the one that is most active would be mixed up with the egg in a very special chamber. There are times the sperm would be injected into the egg directly. After this, the sperm and egg would be placed in an incubator, and it would be monitored to make sure the embryo is healthy.

  • Transfer of Embryo and the Implementation

This is the last stage of the process which is the transfer of the embryo. Firstly, they would check all the embryos to select the one that is the healthiest for transfer. In order to do, a speculum would be placed into your vagina, and the embryo would be transferred via a plastic tube which would be placed through the cervix and into the uterus cavity. After this process is finished, maximum resting is highly advised.
