Essential Oils for Lyme Disease

Lyme disease is caused by bacteria and is transmitted to human beings by ticks. It is the most common tick-borne disease in the United States, reportedly affecting 300000 people a year. This infection is prevalent largely because it is very difficult to diagnose and treat. You can also have doctor home visits in Perth for treatment of Lyme disease.

While antibiotics have been the go-to treatment for Lyme disease, they have proven not to be very effective. This is because most patients that have been treated with antibiotics later reported relapse of the symptoms.

Through intensive research to find alternative researchers have stumbled upon an unexpected candidate. The hope for the treatment of Lyme disease now lies in essential oils. These essential oils for Lyme disease reportedly kill Borella Burgdorferi, the bacterium that causes Lyme disease. Research suggests that antibiotics have failed largely because of the ability of the bacterium to get into a dormant state.

Dr.Zhang of the John Hopkins School of public health in Baltimore is largely responsible for the discovery. In a new study, Dr.Zhang and his team found that out of 35 essential oils they screened ten showed strong against persistent Lyme disease. These essential oils included those from myrrh trees, thyme leaves, garlic cloves, cinnamon bark, cumin seed, allspice berries, and eucalyptus.

Essential oils from allspice berries, garlic bulbs, and myrrh trees completely eliminated Lyme disease in 7 days. There was also no relapse in the growth of B. burgdorferi in 21 days. These were all attained with a 1 per 1000 concentration.

Although the team is still running more tests on this new medical discovery, essential oils seem to be the only real hope in the fight against persistent Lyme disease. Tests will next be done in rodents and if successful human trials will be due very soon. Research also suggests that essential oils can not only cure but also prevent Lyme disease.
